Malta Design is the reference partner for premium public space delivery in Malta.

Founded in 2018, we design, supply and install public spaces built to last, including playgrounds, urban furniture, sport circuits and heritage sites across the Maltese islands.

Who we are

Malta Design / High Rock Ltd was founded in 2018 by Florian Durousset, a French landscape practitioner with eighteen years of European experience in landscaping and urban furniture. The company was created with one purpose: to bring premium European public space brands to the Maltese market and deliver them at full project scope, civil works included.

We work with Kompan, the global reference in playground design, alongside Govaplast, a leading European specialist in recycled-plastic urban furniture, and a curated selection of premium European urban furniture and concrete design brands. Our portfolio spans more than thirty projects delivered across the Maltese islands since 2018, from UNESCO heritage sites to coastal promenades, from local council squares to the country’s first public Obstacle Course Race circuits.

What sets Malta Design apart is the combination of premium European brands, full turnkey delivery capability, and an in-house installation team that controls every project from specification to handover. We don’t supply equipment. We deliver public space.

Malta Design Studio

Beyond supplying premium products, Malta Design Studio supports architects, councils and developers as a design partner from the earliest stage of a project.

Drawing on Florian Durousset's training in landscape design and eighteen years of European practice, the Studio handles landscape design, planting schemes, and the integration of urban furniture and equipment, combined with photorealistic 3D renders, technical specifications and integration drawings to materialise the project before a single piece is ordered. Whether the brief is fully developed or still emerging, we contribute the practical reading of materials, plant behaviour, climate exposure and installation feasibility, without competing on architectural design.

The result: projects that are easier to specify, easier to tender, and easier to defend to public stakeholders.

About Florian

Florian Durousset is the founder and director of Malta Design / High Rock Ltd, the reference partner for premium public space delivery in Malta. Trained in landscape design, BTS Aménagement Paysager, France, 2009, and with eighteen years of practice across Europe, he combines technical horticultural expertise with the operational discipline of repeated B2B project delivery.

His path began early. As a student in 2007, he worked on luxury garden projects on the French Riviera, then contributed to landmark Breton estates including the Malouinière de Yann Guisnel, a one hectare French formal garden with 17,000 boxwood plants. In parallel, he launched bio-jardins.com, one of the early French horticultural e-commerce ventures, and was featured as an expert contributor on aujardin.fr, the leading francophone horticultural reference, for Mediterranean plant care.

He went on to deliver multi-country projects for Eurocommercial Properties, the Euronext listed retail real estate group, across France, Belgium and Switzerland. This European trajectory, from Atlantic Brittany to continental Switzerland and the Mediterranean, gave him a comparative reading of how outdoor materials behave across radically different climates. It is the foundation of how Malta Design specifies and delivers today.

In 2018, he founded Malta Design to focus exclusively on the Maltese public space market. The company works with Kompan, Govaplast and a curated selection of leading European urban furniture and concrete design brands, with a portfolio of more than forty projects across the Maltese islands, including the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, Marsaskala seafront phase 1, Tigné Point seafront, Birżebbuġa’s full council programme, and the country’s first two public Obstacle Course Race circuits. He also operates Linkman Group, a separate B2B venture under the same Maltese holding, serving major international industrial clients, a discipline that directly informs Malta Design’s standards in sourcing and supplier accountability.

In 2026, he launched Public Matter, a long-form editorial podcast on Maltese public space, what we build, how we decide, and why it matters. A French national based in Malta since 2018, Florian sees public space as one of the few infrastructures that outlive political mandates and market cycles, a quiet but durable form of legacy.
